Neiko the Freak-Toed

Kalki, Deleted, JessicaRabbit and Torrie: I'm sorry to keep you waiting so long. But seriously, Neiko has finally stopped moving.

We've had the little man just over a week now. Everyone is getting along REALLY well. Much better than I expected.

However, we're having a little trouble explaining to him that Checkers is not breakfast.

But other than that, we love him to death. He is the perfect kitty to complete the herd. I've compiled the top ten reasons why Neiko will stay:

10. I can now say I own a skinny cat (for the meantime, anyway).

9. He gets the kitty crazies in the morning instead of the evening, which really balances out the kitty crazy schedule.

8. He has extra toes.

7. He chirps like a bird - very talkative little man; even more than Blusie if that's possible.

6. He attacks scratching posts as if they were the devil. I've had to buy a new one already.

5. The moment he was introduced to the full house, he went straight for the two kitty toy baskets and proceeded to pull out EVERY SINGLE TOY. I swear, there are about 48 cat toys littering the floor right now.

4. He affectionately head-butts EVERYTHING, including the other cats' asses, my face, usually in that order...

3. Buddy and Blue actually let him do this (see number 4).

2. He's more flexible than gumby. And when he stretches, you'd think he'd lost all movement below the waist (if I can ever capture this on film, you'll be the first to see).

And the number one reason Neiko is now a part of our family:

1. Yeah, I mentioned he has extra toes, but I think I forgot to point out that THEY'RE OPPOSABLE THUMBS.

What a beautiful kitty kat. I would say that I'm jealous of your kitties, but that would sound odd or stalkerish since I'm a stranger, soooo...I'll just say that your new kitty is cute and that I wish I had a new kitty too. :-)

ps: followed a link from dooce.com so maybe you won't consider too much of a stranger. ;-)

Giggles! Welcome. Of course I know you. You can stalk my kitties any time.

Adent - he does seem a little 'different'.

Pretty kitty. Congratulations to him for snaring such a nice family. I loved your Nilbo post, and his comment. I agree, you can get a pretty good "feel" for people via their blogs. Oh, and you're way too cute;)
Oh, and one more thing, "Pokey doing the Rock while Toxic plays..." cracked me up.

Oh my God, look at his little thumbs. How cute. Nothing greater than a talkative kitty. I love making mine talk back to me while she flips over on her back to show me her expanse of belly. She does this in a very dramatic my life is so difficult but I will plod on way. It is precious, I tell ya.

Hi Jen! Great to hear from you.
Thanks for the nice words about the blog - I'm really just using it as an on-line archive for some of my past shorter humour pieces - it pretty pathetic compared to what some people are doing with theirs, but the phenomenon is fascinating. I will have a look at the blogs you sent, and thanks for getting in touch. I hope things are well with you both.

Super cute. Love the thumb! Opposable thumb = evolution. Cats will, one day, take over the world. Actually, it has happened in my house already.

I tried to post last night and blogger wouldnt take it the wench.

First thing, beautiful boy. Lovely. So cute and fuzzy, I know exactly what you mean about the cat toys, its always like that around here.

Second thing, the toes! Oh my god! I think this is it, you have found him, he is THE ONE. You must hide him! Dont let the secret get out, cats are willing themselves to grow thumbs! If they hear about it, it will be revolution, chaos in the streets! They wont need us to work the can opener! We will have to bow to our new kitty masters!

I am very concerened.

Oh wait, they are already in charge huh, never mind.

Adorable baby.

Wow! Neiko will be so happy to hear that he has a throng of fans out there in Internetland.

Thank you all for your congrats, and might I add that it is true, cats are evolving starting with Neiko. Buddy and Blue often stare at him with a look of "how did he DO that? Freak. He can't be one of us."

More pictures to come!
